About Maita
Maita Vende Cá is a pioneering flamenco-fusion project led by singer, songwriter and musician Antonio Caña, from San Fernando, Cádiz. Since emerging in the 1990s, the project has developed a distinctive sound rooted in flamenco while embracing pop, Latin rhythms and other contemporary influences.
With a career spanning three decades, Maita Vende Cá achieved major commercial success with songs and albums including No Hay Luz Sin Día and Loquito por tus Huesos, establishing a recognizable style within Spain’s flamenco-fusion scene.
Artistic Background
Maita Vende Cá emerged in San Fernando, Cádiz, in the 1990s, with Antonio Caña at the heart of a project that brought a fresh and accessible approach to flamenco. What began among friends soon developed into a successful recording career, combining flamenco rhythms and Andalusian roots with pop and a wide range of musical influences.
The breakthrough album No Hay Luz Sin Día, produced by renowned flamenco producer Ricardo Pachón, established Maita Vende Cá nationally and achieved multi-platinum success. It was followed by Loquito por tus Huesos and Trabajito me ha Costao, consolidating the project’s distinctive flamenco-fusion sound.
Over the following decades, Antonio Caña continued developing Maita Vende Cá through new recordings, collaborations and live performances while preserving the project’s characteristic combination of flamenco tradition, rhythm and contemporary musical influences.
